Region 644 Announces AYSO Select Teams U10-U19
Weston AYSO will be forming Select Teams to participate in tournaments.
We see this as an opportunity to enhance our program, which is already
considered “The best soccer program in South Florida”. Our teams
have achieved tremendous success in the State games held every January
and most recently at the National games this past July in Chicago,
IL. The secret to our success is that we care about the development
of our players… as athletes and individuals. Our players benefit
from having the best qualified coaches and trainers in South Florida.
We have also designed our program within a positive environment
to allow the players the opportunity to achieve success, which helps
them develop confidence in their abilities and reach their full
potential.
The Select Teams will have the opportunity to compete in the State
and National games, AYSO Invitationals and approved Tournaments.
Most of the tournaments that the Select Teams will participate in
are held in our general tri-county area, but we will also participate
in tournaments outside our area such as Tampa, Orlando or in another
State. Participation on a Select Team is only open to players registered
in AYSO (Divisions U10 - U19). The cost for a player to participate
is limited to the uniform (approx. $40) and entry fees for non-AYSO
tournaments (avg. $35 per tournament).

About
AYSO Select
The mission of the AYSO Select teams is to develop and promote
the growth and appreciation of the game of soccer by providing opportunities
for our members to participate in competitive tournaments. The AYSO
Select program is an extension of the core program and is geared
to allow players to continue to develop their skills, confidence
and passion for the game within a challenging environment. AYSO
is dedicated to providing every member a rewarding soccer experience
that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork and an overall love of the
game.
Here are some of the values and ideals that we strive to instill
in every member of our organization:
Respect for all individuals - All of our members
are equally important, and accordingly all members will be treated
with the utmost respect and fairness.
Respect for our organization - AYSO Select encompasses
more than just an opportunity to play competitive soccer. We want
to create and foster an environment that stresses the importance
of family, friends and service to the community, while teaching
all of our members the importance of having a positive environment.
Player Development
- Our goal for players is to create a fun, challenging and positive
environment for all participants regardless of skill or experience.
We believe that success allows players to gain confidence which
in turn allows for development. [Click
here to read more about Player Development.]
Coaching Development - Coaches play an instrumental
part in the growth and success of the players. Coaches are both
teachers and role models. We offer our coaches opportunities to
learn more about the game, learn age appropriate training sessions
and teaching methods and how they can communicate the goals of our
organization so that everyone gets the most out of their participation.
Safety - In order for all members to achieve their
full potential in learning the game, we must provide all of our
members with a physically and emotionally safe environment.
Referees - Structure is an important part of the
game and life itself. Players are taught to respect the referees
by the example set forth by coaches and parents.
Parents - The success of our organization rests
solely on the participation of the parents that volunteer to help
make everyone’s experience better. Parents will support their children
and those who coach their children. By working together with the
coach, parents can help teach their children the philosophies of
our organization, while promoting the development of their children
and our organization.
