AYSO VIP Program provides a quality soccer experience for children and adults - whose physical or mental disabilities make it difficult to successfully participate on mainstream teams. VIP teams may include:

» Players that are Blind or visually impaired
» Players with conditions that impair their mobility
» Player's with mental or emotional challenges
» Players with Autism » Players with Downs Syndrome
» Players with Cerebral Palsy

They are all Very Important Players (VIP) in AYSO. We recognize that everyone needs to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance. The VIP program offers that acceptance and carries the philosophy of "Everyone Plays®" to new heights - giving everyone a chance to play. Kids with various challenges are estimated to make up approximately 10% of the school-age population. Special schools and classrooms can isolate these children so the VIP Program has been structured to integrate these children and adults into the AYSO program by using "buddies" to help these players both on - and off - the field. Our goals for every participating player are

» have fun playing soccer
» understand the fundamentals of the game
» learn teamwork and fair play
» increase positive self-esteem
» become more physically fit
» meet and be comfortable with new people

The AYSO VIP program helps more than just the players. Buddies and other volunteers increase their appreciation and understanding of individuals with various challenges. They find their lives greatly enriched by their involvement with their new friends in the VIP program. For parents thinking they would never see their children playing a sport or making new friends, the VIP program gives them joy and hope. They are able to relax and enjoy watching their children having fun like other kids, perhaps for the first time.
Teams can have as few as five players, may be co-ed, and as with all AYSO teams, VIP teams are balanced with players rated by size and physical ability. Older and younger players form their own divisions, too, when numbers allow.

We do not charge players who participate in the AYSO VIP program. The VIP program depends 100% on sponsorships to cover all expenses: uniforms, equipment, city and national fees, and trophies. If you would like to make a contribution to this program to ensure that the VIP program continues and that many children and adults can benefit from this wonderful program, please contact Valeska McDonald at vrmm@teacher.com or 954-812-1922.

The AYSO VIP program is for players ages 4 and up. Children must be 4 years old by September 16th in order to participate in the program. The AYSO VIP program runs two - ten week sessions. The first session begins in October and the second session runs from January to March. We only meet on Sundays at the Weston Regional Park on Field #4 from 11 am to 1 pm.

In addition, if you are 10 years old or older you can become a VIP Soccer Buddy. Soccer buddies receive community service hours.

For further information, please contact Valeska McDonald at 954-812-1922 or vrmm@teacher.com
